We decided to call our guest house Burdies at Home it kind of speaks of days gone by - where the world once stopped and smelt the roses. Life now is hetic, busy and stressed and we wanted to do our little bit by offering a warm, friendly and relaxed guest house where we can pamper our guests. One of the nicest things I enjoy is having breakfast and not having to rush off somewhere (unless of course it's somewhere nice...). So to assure you, we won't be demanding that you leave for the day - you can sip your coffee and relax.
We serve light lunches from our tea room menu though the tea rooms are only open Thursday to Sunday - we will certainly cater for our guests. Evening meals are optional - we will give you the menu at breakfast time and ask for you to make your choice for your evening meal. We like to serve 'good food' especially prepared for you. We support our local producers and Wales has some of the finest fresh meat, hams and cheeses in the United Kingdom.
There is a lot to do in Wales, apart from enjoying the beautiful scenery. We are situated very conveniently opposite Ffos Las Racecourse. There are also beautiful places to visit such as Cefn Sidan Sands; it is the largest beach in the whole of Wales, and is eight miles of silky pristine sands wild and natural and utterly unspoilt. Also nearby is Pembrey Country Park which is an attraction for all ages groups. We have three excellent golf courses near us, one just down the road Glyn Abbey, Ashburnham Golf Course and the Jack Nicklaus designed Machynys Golf Course. The Machynys Peninsula is designated SSSI and is beautiful on it's own merit apart from the Golf Course. It sports a meandering cycle path that is a nature lovers paradise, one can also walk on this cycle path. The golf links skirts the peninsular, where you can spot wetland birds such as duck, geese, skylarks and swans, and the wheeling kestrel and other birds of prey. And for those who like folklore there was a monastery and the 'mad monks of Machynys' are still reported to haunt the now Jack Nichlaus Golf Course and if that doesn't put you off your stroke ... what will?
The famous National Botanical Gardens is just a short drive away and the delightful town of Carmarthen for shopping or a spot of lunch. Kidwelly castle is a must and was built by the Normans in 1106 - this is just a couple of miles away.
The above is just a few of the many places to visit in our neck of the woods - of course we will tell you of excellent local restaurants and pubs. Llanelli has a great selection of pubs and a premier nightclub called Club V which has only just recently opened its doors.
Our aim is for you to relax and enjoy your stay with us and enjoy the beautiful country side that Wales has to offer.
